Partly due to the good weather, partly due to the good mood during our outing this afternoon, we got carried away. And so, we found ourselves strolling quite far from home.
At some point, my 13-year-old Melina sat back on her hind legs and looked at me with a complaining look. I understood. I went over to her, petted her head, and took her in my arms. Immediately, she let out a sigh of relief, stretched her front leg over my shoulder, and nestled in my embrace. We headed back walking slowly-slowly, with little Melina in my arms and the others following me faithfully.
A little while later, arriving home, I placed her carefully on the sidewalk to open the front door. And then, she gave me the most charming smile she has gifted me in recent years…
